Van Finance Declined? What Can a Limited Company Do Next?

A refusal does not necessarily mean your limited company has no other options. Find out what was submitted, check the facts and understand the van and deposit before deciding whether another application is appropriate. A different provider will make its own decision and may also decline.

Start with the original application

Ask the dealer or finance provider which business and vehicle details were submitted and whether they can explain the outcome. A decision may reflect several factors, including affordability, trading history, credit information, the vehicle or the amount requested. A dealer may not know the provider’s full reasoning. Avoid assuming a single issue caused the refusal.

Check the information before applying again

Check the company name, address, trading details, turnover and the vehicle price supplied. If credit information is relevant, ask which reference agency was used and check for errors with the appropriate agency. Ask the next provider whether it intends to conduct a credit search and how it will be recorded. Avoid sending repeated applications without understanding the process.

Look at the complete purchase

Confirm whether the advertised price includes VAT, the cash deposit available and any other costs. Keep enough working capital for insurance, maintenance and ordinary business expenses. A lower amount financed may help the numbers, but no deposit level guarantees acceptance. The lender will consider its own criteria and affordability.

Already found the van?

Keep the advertisement link, dealer name, registration or specification, price and mileage to hand. The independent provider must be comfortable with the vehicle and supplier. Do not assume a particular van will qualify, and do not commit to a non-refundable payment before you understand the conditions.
